I’m Kim Junior opens at *SCAPE with Korean BBQ and galbi

By: Sara Jane Ong

The Korean BBQ trend has hit Singapore a couple years ago, and unlike other food trends, this one seems to be here to stay. Following the success of the original I’m Kim at the School of the Arts (SOTA) in 2015, I’m Kim Junior is now open at *SCAPE, selling their BBQ meats, seafood and other side dishes at very affordable prices! Opened by serial-entrepreneur Elim Chew (you should know her from retail chain 77th Street and GoroGoro), the new Korean BBQ restaurant takes on a new and modern concept – it’s a lot more spacious and sleek than its older counterpart.

We don’t know why they call this place I’m Kim Junior when it seems like an upsized version

I’m Kim Junior’s offerings are similar to I’m Kim, offering a whole variety of marinated meats (think pork ribs, tender chicken meat, beef rib eye steaks, fatty strips of bacon, etc), veggies, soups and even Korean delicacies like fried chicken and noodles.

Meat, meat and more meat – that’s what we like

But what sets I’m Kim Junior apart from its SOTA branch is the chicken and seafood galbi – you’re given a round hot plate where you can pick your own ingredients like cheese, vermicelli, kimchi, mushrooms), and whip a dish up all on your own. You don’t have to worry about not knowing how to cook – the ingredients are pretty much marinated, you can just throw in ingredients and get busy.

For youths, I’m Kim Junior is a great place to hang out and catch up. Perfect for growing tweens (hey, we know you guys need to eat), but it’s great fun for family gatherings too (since kids can try their hand out at cooking their own food). If you’ve got a big appetite and love company, this restaurant is one you definitely want to visit for lunch or dinner this weekend! Also, psst, from now until 4 June, the restaurant’s weekday lunch is going for only $9.90++!
