The inaugural *SCAPEdance Residency programme is looking to recruit up to 10 individuals who are interested in artistic experimentation and to challenge themselves in the areas of performance and choreography.
The following individuals are encouraged to apply.
- Individuals who are at least 18 years old and at most 34 years old at the time of registration, and
- Graduates from SOTA/NAFA/LASALLE who are committed to dance as a career, or
- Advanced dancers with no vocational training who are committed to dance as a career, or
- Practising dance practitioners (artists, educators, etc) who are committed to upskill.
The selected residents can expect and will need to commit to the following:

Internal and External Showcases
As part of a holistic dancer-choreographer’s development, residents can expect around 1 internal work-in-progress showcase in March 2021 and 1 external showcase for their works to possibly be presented in August and/or October 2021, depending on the merits of the works and prevailing public health situation. Details to be released upon confirmation.
Deserving and outstanding residents may have a rare opportunity to be selected to join a professional dance company in Singapore as an intern for a period of time. Outstanding residents may be offered to continue at the dance companies for a professional career.

Dates and Duration: May – July 2021, full time
Do note that individuals will have to follow through the schedule of the dance company during this period of time. Terms and conditions to be discussed in detail in June 2021.
Other Support through the Residency
- Access to *SCAPE dance studio outside of technique and mentorship programme (subject to request and availability).
- Profiling and amplification by *SCAPE. This includes interviews, photoshoots and video recording (process of the programme and dance showcase item).
- Partial reimbursement for purchased tickets to arts shows by local (Singapore) dance companies.
- Opportunity to teach for *SCAPE open contemporary classes.
- Networking opportunity with local dance industry leaders and professionals.
There is no programme fee required to participate in the programme.

Adele is a Singapore-based independent dance artist working across different disciplines and formats in dance-making and performance. From 2013-2018, she was a full-time company artist with Frontier Danceland. In 2019, she was commissioned to create“Disappearing Act” in collaboration with Germaine Cheng for M1 Contact Contemporary Dance Festival, which was selected to be performed in Odoru Akita International Dance Festival in Japan and Internationale Tanzmesse NRW in Germany. In 2020, she performedin Back of the Bus by Java Dance Theatre for Arts in Your Neighbourhood. Recently, she created a solo for Artscience Late at Home and collaborated with award-winning Korean Artist, Kwon Hyuk for M1 Contact Contemporary Dance festival. Her new work “UNISON”created in collaboration with Bernice Lee, will premiere at this year’s da:ns festival.
Albert graduated from the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts on full scholarship. He was a professional dancer with Cloud Gate Dance Theatre (Taiwan) and guest artist with Hong Kong Dance Company, resident Choreographer and training master for Frontier Danceland. In 2012. As a choreographer, he has participated in the Singapore Arts Festival, NUS Arts Festival, M1 Fringe Festival, Esplanade da:ns Festival, M1 CONTACT Contemporary Dance Festival, Colorado, Fukuoka, Macau, Shanghai and Busan and Brisbane. Recently, he was invited to carry out academic exchanges with the Beijing Dance Academy, Macau Academy of Performing Arts (Dance Academy). Albert is now teaching at T.H.E Dance Company, NUS Dance Synergy.
