The desk-grinding reality that has become our skewed version of a success story

Part & Parcel is a gripping story about people. The film succinctly stitches together the highs, lows, and the everyday lives of the 60//40 Messengers.

Part & Parcel is a documentary that draws attention to an unnoticed blue-collar industry in the city, where the Central Business District is dominated by PMETs, cars, and the white-collar lifestyle. This short film brings a fresh perspective in sharp contrast to the desk-grinding reality that has become our skewed version of a success story.

“We are not just stray cats on the street. We are humans too, and we are working adults, also.”

A powerful telling of a narrative that reminds us of the breadth of the world, this story seeks to bring a certain truth to light: that the CBD is not the sum of its office workers.  Rather, this concrete jungle (and society as a whole) is held together by each citizen that lives in it, regardless of profession or income.

We see the bike messengers celebrate their unique culture in unofficial bicycle races, which emphasize on the inherent value of participation in the journey, as opposed to the highly competitive society we have become. We see their presence on the roads and streets as they perform their jobs, their safety endangered due to discrimination by drivers. We see that this is a simple tale of humble hustlers who work their craft with silent, stoic pride.

At its core, Part & Parcel is a gripping story about people. The film succinctly stitches together the highs, lows, and the everyday lives of the 60//40 Messengers.
