[COMMA] Experimentation Ground: Make Sure You're Alone When You Wish At The Well

Make Sure You’re Alone When You Wish At The Well is an interdisciplinary curio that expands on performance and the moving image. Its hybrid form merges unstable elements, from animatronic sculptures to music video techniques. Equating the digital screen with the age-old notion of a wishing well, the work regards both objects as interfaces for transdimensional communication. Audiences are invited to encounter past and present digital rituals while participating in the live assembly of a temporary installation.

HOTHOUSE

Hothouse is a space in Singapore that supports and prototypes artistic practices. It nurtures experimentation and production as a mode of upending conventions and liberating inquiry.

Founded in 2020, it is housed within space and time shared between art collective INTER–MISSION, design agency Currency, and more recently, research lab formAxioms.

This ever-evolving interdisciplinary setup encompasses expertise across contemporary art, technology, design, and architecture, allowing for emancipatory approaches toward art practice, knowledge building and dissemination.

Chong Lii

Chong Lii’s work aims to explore the possibility of merging or levelling disparate spaces, objects, people, and images. Permeable frames of history and ontology are set against the spectacle of fiction, re-articulating the sociopolitical tensions from which these elements arise.

Singaporean millennial fantasies, accidental occult tributes in digital media and imagined historical subcultures are among the subjects filtered through an idiosyncratic gaze that supports and undermines them in equal measure.

Operating alongside strategies of complicity and dissent, his installations and films simultaneously counter and revel within the apparatus of the moving image.
