Pretty Ugly is a cabaret performance celebrating identity and expression. Blending song and story in an intimate, conversational setting, this unique cabaret show tackles those pesky inner-demons we encounter: the ones that tell us we’re not attractive enough.

Join Theo as he uncovers the origins of such self-doubt, charting a way forward in an evening of “powerful vocals” and “emotional vulnerability” (Varsity), featuring an eclectic array of your favorite musical theatre songs.

Theo Chen

Theo is a theatre-maker who recently made his professional debut performing in Pangdemonium’s Kimberly Akimbo. He has also performed with Wild Rice, The Theatre Practice, and T:>Works.

He founded and led Playwrights Commune, an independent platform that has developed the work of more than 100 playwrights; A Mirage, Singapore’s first pub theatre; and Critics Circle Blog, a platform for emerging performance critics.
