Estonia, Northern Europe’s rising design star, debuts Upmade in Estonia at Singapore Design Week—an exhibition where heritage meets innovation in a bold vision for sustainable futures. Known for its minimalist aesthetic, digital-first mindset, and circular design leadership, Estonia showcases how creativity and responsibility can thrive together.
Curated by Ilona Gurjanova and Reet Aus, and designed by Tarmo Luisk, the exhibition features over 40 designers and studios—from upcycled fashion and biomaterials to 3D-printed objects and handcrafted jewelry. Originally launched at NYCxDESIGN 2024, it now arrives in Singapore before heading to France.
Organized by the Estonian Association of Designers and the Estonian Academy of Arts, with support from the Ministry of Culture and the Embassy of Estonia in Singapore, the exhibition unfolds in five interactive zones: Tradition, Upcycling, Recycling, Biomaterials, and 3D Printing. It includes lectures by design leaders such as Ilona Gurjanova, Riina Õun, Reet Aus, and Kärt Summatavet. A pop-up shop offers ethically made Estonian design pieces to take home.
