AMP 2025 Workshop: Indie Labels & Community Music Initiatives

Creative Arts

1:00 pm

*SCAPE, #03-10

This workshop is part of AMP 2025, our mentorship programme for aspiring musicians.

This workshop will focus on the outer-lying elements in music around indie labels and the importance of community-focused efforts. Participants will learn what it means to be part of, and help grow, a healthy music ecosystem in Singapore (and beyond)!

Facilitated by Aarika Lee (Sing Song Social Club), Dominic Yuan (PARKA), and Krysta Joy (Saylah Studios), this workshop will dive deep into local case studies, boosting aspiring musicians’ knowledge of how indie labels operate and the development of community music initiatives.

Meet Our Speakers!

Aarika Lee

Aarika Lee is a Singaporean creative, singer, and cultural advocate. She is the founder of Sing Song Social Club, a viral community choir that has captured hearts for its joyful and inclusive spirit of collective singing. With over a decade of experience in the creative and music industries, Aarika has performed on local and international stages, collaborated with renowned artists, and contributed to Singapore’s evolving arts landscape through her work in music, branding, and community building.

Beyond the stage, she is an educator at LASALLE University of the Arts, where she inspires and nurtures the next generation of culture keepers and changemakers. Aarika is passionate about using music as a tool for connection, and continues to create spaces where people can come together to celebrate creativity and shared expression.

Dominic Yuan

Dominic Yuan is the founder of PARKA, an Indie Record Label and Music Production House that has shaped the sounds of Singaporean artists since 2022. He has backed rising artists such as lovlaine, ICEBOX, shazza, and Regina Song, bringing his expertise in Music Production, A&R, as well as Label Services and Artist Management.

Starting out in bands and as a session keyboard player, Dominic is now known for his ability as a label manager and producer, with an aptitude to blend artistic vision with business strategy. He has managed artists and projects across not just Singapore but Malaysia and the Philippines as well, notably leading the teams that produced the hit singles The Cutest Pair by Regina Song (No.1 on Viral 50 Singapore) and ikaw, ikaw, ikaw by ICEBOX and Eliza Maturan (No. 88 on Top 200 Philippines). PARKA works with a diverse roster of emerging talents, including lovlaine, ICEBOX, Adriel (MY), and Jeyes, as well as an extended group of artists in Malaysia and the Philippines, and looks to build the next home for independent music in Southeast Asia.

Krysta Joy

Krysta Joy is a soulful singer-songwriter with a passion for building community through music. As the founder of Saylah Studios, she journeys with artists and creates spaces where people can thrive together. Inspired by the idea of “selah” (a moment to pause and reflect) and “say lah” (an invitation to honest expression), their desire is to foster genuine connections and nurture creativity.

She is also a radio host on Mediacorp Indiego, spotlighting homegrown talent. Whether on stage or in the studio, Krysta carries a message worth hearing and a heart always ready to listen.
