Kin Leonn’s music exists between temporal soundworlds and experimental textures, coalescing into a luminous aether. The ‘ambient boy from Singapore,’ Kin creates auditory realms that pulse with the essence of his home city, yet extend outward, lingering at the threshold of recollection — a blend of spatial reveries and dreams of far-off domains, enriched through collaborations that weave together Asia and the UK into his ever-shifting sound.

A first-class honors graduate from the London College of Music, Kin was honored with the prestigious Spike Stent Award in 2021. His work in multi-channel sound installations includes commissions for multiple art festivals in Singapore, as well as an installation at the Architectural Association in London.

One of Kin’s most celebrated collaborations is with the artist yeule, where he co-produced and co-wrote the album softscars. The album received critical praise, with Pitchfork ranking it #10 on their Best 50 Albums of 2023 list. Kin’s collaborations with yeule have also involved artists like Moderat, Lucinda Chua, and Yunè Pinku. In addition to his production work, Kin serves as a mixing and mastering engineer, collaborating with a new wave of Singaporean artists like Subsonic Eye and Blush.

Kin’s foray into film music includes original soundtracks for The Breaking Ice by Anthony Chen which premiered at Cannes and was lauded by Hirokazu Kore-eda. The soundtrack itself has received praise from international film press, including The Hollywood Reporter and Indiewire.

In 2024, five years after his debut, Kin shifted his focus back to solo work, unveiling mirror in the gleam, his second full-length album. Its boundless sound terrain invites listeners to navigate the intersections between nature and the unseen spaces that bind us. Following its release, Kin toured Japan and Asia, performing at Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand and AMBIENT KYOTO, alongside artists such as Kiasmos, Explosions in the Sky, Meitei and Christopher Willits, further solidifying his position as an emerging presence in the global ambient ether and, more importantly, a driving force in shaping the future of Singapore’s music landscape.
