About This Class

This 4-day screenwriting masterclass is specifically designed for students who are keen on understanding the fundamental basics of screenplay mechanics and want to write an industry-standard short film script. Participants will learn to employ powerful writing techniques used by the best screenwriting professionals.

Course Outline

A strong screenplay is the foundation of a good film. Writing for a short film requires craft that differs from that used in the writing of a novel, play, or short story. This 2-day course will give participants a chance to learn basic and fundamental skills they can apply to flesh out an idea, structure a story, and then write the first draft of a short film screenplay.

Trainer: Andrew Ngin Chiang Meng

Andrew Ngin Chiang Meng is an award-winning screenwriter with more than 10 years of writing for the screen. His writing covers a variety of genres, from half-hour comedies, medical and police dramas, romantic comedies, to full-length action and horror feature films. His scripts have won awards in Seoul, New York World Emmys, and Los Angeles Fear and Fantasy Festival 2016. He has been teaching screenwriting for more than five years at a local polytechnic. His student won Best Screenwriting at National Youth Film Awards in 2015.
