Somerset GraffJam Vol. 1 is a graffiti jamming session set against the vibrant canvas of the Somerset Youth Park Open Wall. Together with The Blackbook Studio, this pilot programme will witness the dynamic interplay between graffiti artists with varying levels of experience and collectives.

Artists

1 Amer Satu (1) AMER SATU (MY)

Amer01 finds immense joy and creativity in art. His focus revolves around fantasy and illustration themes, particularly characters like animals and monsters. Utilising the dynamic graffiti style with spray as his medium of choice, he is fascinated by the unique effects and hands-on feel it provides. As an artist, his goal is to explore, gain experience, and continually enhance his creativity through various painting techniques and character development progress.

2 Antz ANTZ

ANTZ is a multi-hatted creative whose practice as an urban artist extends to projects with the RSCLS collective, which he cofounded. ANTZ is known for his distinctive style, which draws deeply from the visual vocabulary of classical Chinese myths and vernacular stories. His aesthetic sensibilities has been called a “juxtaposed-mash” amounting to a playful pastiche of international urban pop and ethnic traditions. Equipped with a strong understanding of design and an ubiquitous obsession for the Chinese culture and aesthetic, ANTZ continues to walk the art world reaching most of South East Asia, China, North America, and Europe and in the process, he has successfully carved out a niche of diverse and notable clientele.

4 Celtiadi
CELTIADI (HK/SG)
celtiadi / Celine Setiadi is a visual artist from Indonesia and Hong Kong.
Her work meditates on our individual and collective phenomenology, fixating on the body as the vessel by which we experience reality. Tracing tensions and connections in an ever-complicating modernity, she is informed her own patchwork cultural identity, aiming to trace both the delineations that distinguish us as well as the undeniable commonalities that establish our membership as part of humanity.
Her work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, Scotland, Chicago, Milan and Singapore. She currently lives and works in Singapore.

Foxg is an SP-based graffiti artist and active since the 2011 whose work consists exclusively “fox” character (fiction) & wildstyle lettering in graffiti art. His graffiti piece and wildstyle epigrams combine fox character with graffiti letter executed in a distinctive freestyle spray technique. Foxg’s work grew out of the Sungai Petani underground scene, which involved collaborations between local artists. Foxg says that he was inspired by all local graffiti artists who are working so hard to develop this graffiti scene in Malaysia.

6 Gwenster GWENSTER

Gwenster, otherwise known as Gwen, is a dynamic fine art artist, illustrator, and muralist. She thrives on crafting illustrations bursting with vibrant character and attitude! Her artistic style seamlessly blends elements of Chinese mythology with a dash of street art flair, all infused with an endearing touch of cuteness.

7 Monki
MONKI
Sei Nishiyama, who also goes by the moniker Sei10/Monki is firstly a tattoo artist before anything, with a career spanning over 10 years. Monki is also the name of his cat.he uses that moniker as a way of bringing her along wherever he goes.
Inspired by his Japanese heritage and punk roots, his work focuses on traditional Japanese with a fusion of Punk rock/ street culture.
Alongside tattooing, he is dedicated to the brush and occasionally walls.
He aims to push himself, his paintings and Japanese tattooing (self improvement) while spreading the message of punk/subcultures. All while dreaming of the day when the public recognises that Skinheads started out as a non racist movement and had nothing to with supremacy of any kind.
8 Mungkok
MUNGKOK
A devoted husband and father, an artist at heart. This 43-year-old finds his voice not in daily routine, but in the vibrant language of street art.
Drawn to the power of typography he uses walls as his canvas, transforming single words into impactful messages.
Always evolving, he experiments with new styles, his passion fueled by the energy of the streets and the love of his family.
9 Qin Musouvoid QIN MUSOVOID

Qin’s work is known for its vivid colours and playful designs involving her beloved black cats. She often uses simple yet meaningful visuals to tell stories that are easy to understand and relate to. Qin’s use of main topics such as mental health, motherhood and family is a way for her to express her emotions and create a sense of connection with her audience.

10 Shred SHRED

Shred, also known as Fiq, is a 17-year-old graffiti writer. Currently studying graphic design at ITE College Central, he began his journey in graffiti in late 2023 under the guidance of his mentor, Bony. He created his first piece at Somerset skatepark. Additionally, he participated in the recent Graffightx competition as one of the eight qualifiers at The Blackbook Studios. His style of graffiti is typically simple, ensuring that the words in his pieces are visible to the audience while also incorporating detailed elements for added attraction.

11 Slac Satu
SLACSATU
Slacsatu is a self taught artist and one of the pioneers in the local graffiti scene. He has been writing in the form of graffiti since 1998 and has been commissioned by numerous clients who were enticed by his signature realistic style of spray painting.
Slacsatu’s works are influenced by the raw energy of graffiti fused with a twist of abstract flares, into which he injects the raw technical aspects of spray painting with a traditional painterly approach.
The ‘Alphabatik’ series that he has been working on is an example of his diverse approach to the art form. A revered graffiti practitioner in Singapore, Slacsatu’s achievements are recognised through his participation and awards at many competitions in Singapore, China and Malaysia.
14 Syk

SYK

Syk is an eclectic bundle of incoherently cohesive narratives let loose in a person. She’s a Character Artist that mostly spitballs and free-styles fantastical creatures when spraypainting; drawing inspiration from her surroundings and influenced by modern and traditional South-east Asian art. How her art starts and how it ends never goes as expected- almost as if each of them goes ‘SIKE!’.
