The National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) is back in 2017 following a very well-received second edition which saw more than 260 submissions from 13 Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs).
NYFA aims to establish a benchmark in national excellence and talent identification between the film industry and IHLs offering film, animation and media-related courses.
The competition will be assessed by a jury panel comprising of well-known names in the media industry. A total of 23 awards will be presented at the Award Ceremony on Saturday, 22 July 2017. Some of the awards include Best Cinematography, Best Sound Design, Best Documentary, and Best Animated Film.
NYFA 2017 jury panel have some new faces such as Jocelyn Little from Beach House Pictures, Gary Goh from MM2 Entertainment and Wahyuni Hadi from Singapore International Film Festival. This year, a brand new category for post-secondary students from non-media courses have also been added.For the first time, the public will be able to participate by voting for their favourite films.
Workshops and screenings will also be held for the public and anyone who is interested in the film industry and wants to expand their knowledge about filmmaking.
