How can I audition for this programme?

Physical audition requirements

  • Prepare a one-minute freestyle or dance cover with your choice of song and perform in person (K-Pop or non-K-Pop).
  • Music and costume to be prepared by auditionees.
    • All auditionees need to use appropriate music without any vulgarities or elements that undermine Singapore’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony;
    • All auditionees should dress appropriately, such as costumes that protect your modesty.
  • Bring an adaptor if your phone does not have a 3.5mm jack port for music playback.

Things to take note for physical audition

  • Auditionees needs to be of age 10* to 35 years old as of 21 March 2020 (*born before 21 March 2010).
  • Performance space will be 3m x 2m and demarcated on the actual day.
  • Auditions will be video recorded by *SCAPE. These videos will be uploaded onto *SCAPE’s YouTube channel for online voting of the most popular video and for external assessment by South Korean agencies such as n.CH Entertainment, Evermore Music, and Jay Kim etc.
  • Recording of pre and post audition interviews will be conducted by *SCAPE.
  • All auditionees are required to have an active Facebook account.
    • Communications/information and enquiries about the workshop between *SCAPEdance and participants will be done through a private Facebook group upon successful final selection.
  • Personal data in Singapore is protected under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). With the PDPA, all information and personal data collected shall not be disclosed and will remain within the organising parties.
    • If you are under 18, print out the parental consent form and ensure that your parent/guardian sign off and give full consent.
    • Please arrive 15 – 20 minutes earlier prior to your allocated audition timing.

Online audition

We allow applicants who are unable to attend the physical audition to submit an online audition video.

  • Audition fee and registration via Peatix.com apply (see below to register and pay).
  • Auditionees needs to be of age 10* to 35 years old as of 21 March 2020 (*born before 21 March 2010)
  • Video file size of your self-recording needs to be below 50MB.
  • Recording needs to be static and conducted in a brightly lit condition, clearly showing auditionee’s face.
  • Prepare and perform at most one minute of freestyle or dance cover with your choice of song (K-Pop or non-K-Pop).
    • Video that exceeds the one-minute mark will not be considered.
  • Submit video to dance@scape.sg.
    • Subject: <insert your name> K-Pop Trainee Masterclass 2020 Audition Video. Video submission can be emailed through OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox. Make sure that *SCAPEdance team can access the videos otherwise it will not be accepted.
  • The name submitted with the email subject and the Peatix registration need to be the same.
  • We will not consider submissions if their respective payment is not received.
  • Deadline for submission and registration via Peatix.com is 21 March 2020, 1200 hours.

What happens after registration?

  • *SCAPEdance team will send you an email to confirm your audition.
  • Audition timing will be allocated by *SCAPEdance team. If you are unable to commit to the allocated time, email us at dance@scape.sg. Do note that time slots will be subject to availability.
  • Confirmed and accepted timeslots cannot be amended.
  • Do arrive 15 – 20 minute earlier prior to your allocated audition timeslot.

Precautionary measures for COVID-19

Due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus disease, *SCAPE is taking precautionary measures listed as below to safeguard our youths.

  • Temperature checks.
    • Auditionees who are unwell and whose temperatures taken are at 37.5 degrees Celsius or above will not be allowed to take part in the audition and will be turned away.
    • Surgical mask will be issued to individuals who are found to have a temperature of above 37.5 degree Celsius and be advised to seek medical attention immediately.
  • Travel declaration.
    • All auditionees are requested to declare their travel history from mainland China (or any other country) starting on or after 14 January 2020.
  • Crowd control
    • Within the audition, there will be no more than 6 individuals at a time to ensure ventilation.
  • *SCAPE also increased the frequency of cleaning of common areas.
