Manufactured Nature by Jeremy Loh

Dancers: Bernice Ong Jingwen, Chan Wei Qi, Koon Tian Hui, Lam Kwang Siang, Soh Si Ying Claudia, Tan Si Lei, Sherry, Tay Hao Yang Mark and Vicki Thng Kai Ting. Composers: Khoo Tze Fong and Thomas Chen Run Sheng. In collaboration with: Alexander Teoh.

May all who gather here, gather hands that shall birth this world anew. May we, congregation of the alien and the disparate, alienated from ancestral nature, disparate amidst our kin, congregate as scions of blessed Humanity.

May we hope toward that dawn where we moult our olden trappings and construct a dream where at last the sun hurled its radiance upon our twisted forms before the grand dying of the day.

But what is this new world, estranged from the former? How vast, how blinding, this bright beauty of the twilight of the old nature, how profound the night! All round reign the imitations of the primordial world, the barbed tree, the towering mounts, the currents of the cataract as they plunge furious along unearthly, terrestrial flues. Do not forget! If we persist, we shall become trees. The sun perishes. Nature persists. We awaken on a darkened mass, where joy and tears whirl in a mad, mad, dance.

all-seeing by Ignatius Sim

Dancers: Amadea Chiara Jusman, Mildred Tan Jie Ning, Ng Jun Yi and Pang Si Min. Composers: Gabrielle Nadia Li Effendy and Liau Hui Xin Celeste.

“From the wide vantage point of several city blocks, this camera zooms in to easily identify the woman from more than 3 soccer fields away”

Unaware, there might actually be one pointing towards you right now. What started as an adopted system to bring about safety and protection, could possibly become a tool to imprison(enslave). This work is a study of the similarities between CCTVs and human behaviour. It is natural to be wary to protect oneself. What if you are on someone’s watchlist? Would you feel naked and vulnerable?

Look At Me by Kimberly Sim

Dancers: Alexis Elisabeth Chew, Olivia Tjokro, Fiona Chua, Luizmo and Tng Pei Ling. Composers: Aswini Kumar and Zachary Chin.

“I want you to look at me
beyond my flesh and bones
this time, I bare my soul.”

Look At Me is a collection of reflections revolving around the intricacies of everyday human interactions. In our upbringings of deep-rooted avoidance, what forms of expression are worth more than the price of
others’ judgements?

hitoiki by Shanna

Dancers: Arana Bianca Mikhaela Jao, Hon En Hui Charis, Lim Yuxi, Shermaine Tan Rui En, Thang Yu Ling, Camille, Vashti Yeo Ruo Xuan, Wong Xin Ying Chloe, Maria Sophia De La Cruz Lopez and Poh Wanjun, Sherry. Composer: Thomas Chen Run Sheng.

hitoiki is a mesmerising piece that blends unique movements together, so as to replicate the flow of breath through dance. Water Breathing, a graceful dance that calls on the souls of swans, mimicking their ways of gliding through space. Beast Breathing, an enchanting horror of messy yet seamless formations, dancers who barely miss each other. Mist Breathing. A haunting veil where movements are obscured by speed, calling to you to pay close attention. Fire Breathing, an invincible element that will capture your heartbeat with it’s powerful and reaching movements. Thunder Breathing, like the bolts that cut through the sky, this dance will strike you in your heart with its quick and sharp movements. Jarring yet beautiful, ‘hitoiki’ will render you breathless, yet breathe life back into you.
