Are you ready for some Christmas magic? Tap into your child’s spirit as you dive into Klaus, a story about our favourite gift-giver, Santa Claus.

Set in a frozen, isolated town, Jesper the postman is posted to Smeerensburg after proving that he is the worst postman in the academy. The only way for him to return home is to post a thousand letters in Smeerensburg, but here’s the catch: everyone hates each other so much in this town that if you happen to see another villager, you might face death.

When he chances upon his biggest hope, Klaus, an initially-reclusive woodsman who makes toys, he gets more desperate to finish his mission.  Will Klaus help Jesper out? Will Jesper finally be able to escape the town?

I felt so much from this movie in just 90 minutes—the sorrow of a father, the disappointment of a son, the excitement of a child, etc. These emotions are what we feel in our lives as well, which makes it easy to relate to the movie. The flow of the story wasn’t too fast or too slow, and with the help of the muted flashbacks, we were able to understand each character’s story deeper.

The animators also made good use of the camera angles and colours to set the story. Wide shots and dull colours were used to show the city’s brokenness, while more close-up shots and bright colours were used at the end to show that the characters got closer and happier.

Animated movies have a special way of warming my heart and Klaus is no exception. Klaus went right into my list of favourite animated films of all-time and I am sure that it would go into yours too. Don’t believe me? Watch it now!
