The inaugural *SCAPEdance Residency programme is looking to recruit up to 10 individuals who are interested in artistic experimentation and to challenge themselves in the areas of performance and choreography.  

The following individuals are encouraged to apply. 

1. Individuals who are at least 18 years old and at most 34 years old at the time of registration, and
2. Graduates from SOTA/NAFA/LASALLE who are committed to dance as a career, or 
3. Advanced dancers with no vocational training who are committed to dance as a career, or 
4. Practising dance practitioners (artists, educators, etc) who are committed to upskill.

 The selected residents can expect and will need to commit to the following: 

Technique Mentorship 

Technique Mentors: Albert Tiong and Adele Goh 

Dates and duration: November 2020 – January 2021, every Monday and Wednesday 9am to 12pm

Choreography Mentorship and Masterclasses 

Choreography Mentors: Albert Tiong and Adele Goh  

Masterclass instructors: Angela Liong (The Arts Fission), Danny Tan and Lo Pui Sze (Odyssey Dance Theatre), Norhaizad (P7:1SMA) Kuik Swee Boon (T.H.E Dance Company), Ricky Sim (RAW Moves),

Internal and External Showcases 

As part of a holistic dancer-choreographer’s development, residents can expect around 1 internal work-in-progress showcase in March 2021 and 1 external showcase for their works to possibly be presented in August and/or October 2021, depending on the merits of the works and prevailing public health situation. Details to be released upon confirmation.

Internship

Deserving and outstanding residents may have a rare opportunity to be selected to join a professional dance company in Singapore as an intern for a period of time. Outstanding residents may be offered to continue at the dance companies for a professional career. 

Supporting dance companies: Odyssey Dance Theatre, P7:1SMA, RAW Moves, The Arts Fission, T.H.E Dance Company,  

Dates and Duration: May – July 2021, full time 

Do note that individuals will have to follow through the schedule of the dance company during this period of time. Terms and conditions to be discussed in detail in June 2021. 

Other Support through the Residency

• Access to *SCAPE dance studio outside of technique and mentorship programme (subject to request and availability).  
• Profiling and amplification by *SCAPE. This includes interviews, photoshoots and video recording (process of the programme and dance showcase item). 
• Partial reimbursement for purchased tickets to arts shows by local (Singapore) dance companies. 
• Opportunity to teach for *SCAPE open contemporary classes. 
• Networking opportunity with local dance industry leaders and professionals.  

 There is no programme fee required to participate in the programme.
