Street Dance Intensives Mentorship

Mentorship period: Aug 2023 – Jan 2024  

Calling all street dance choreographers! Join our Mentorship programme that will be led by experienced international street dance professionals and take your skills to the next level. Over the course of the programme, participants will learn and develop their techniques in various street dance styles. Our curriculum is designed to provide a space for exploration of unique ideas, emphasizing creativity and self-expression. 

This mentorship programme is perfect for intermediate to advanced youth dancers who are passionate about street dance and are looking to challenge themselves and take their choreographic ideas to the next level. Through mentorship sessions, personalized feedback, and opportunities to connect with other dancers and industry professionals, participants will gain invaluable experience and knowledge in the world of street dance.

*Successful applicants will be contacted by *SCAPE by 24 July. All residents will be presenting their work in early 2024.

BELOW ARE THE CRITERIA FOR MENTORSHIP: 

• Singaporean or Permanent Resident youth individuals who are at least 18 years old and at most 34 years old at the time of registration.  
• Fresh graduates are welcome. 
• 2-3 years’ experience in a/multiple street dance genres. 
• Have experience choreographing (including formation) a street dance performance at least once for 4-9 dancers.  
• To participate in the Street Dance Intensives: Pre-Open Call Workshops 

MENTORSHIP COMMITMENT:  

• To reach out to your own dancers for your showcase.  
• Mentor Consultation Sessions and Choreographing period: August 2023 – October 2023 
• Presentation of your performance and rehearsals:  November, December 2023
• Performance Period: January 2024
   

SUPPORT PROVIDED:  

• Showcase of your presentation work, January 2024.  
• Access to *SCAPE space within the period of the Mentorship. (Subject to request and availability).  
• Profiling and publicity amplification by *SCAPE. This includes interviews, photoshoots, and video recording. (Process of the programme and dance showcase items)  
• Dancers’ honorarium. (Choreographers will be expected to reach out on your own, to dancers for your performance items)  

HOW TO APPLY:  

Interested participants are required to submit the following here by 16 July 2023, 2359hrs.  

Who you are  

• CV and portfolio or past works / choreographies  

Your idea  

• 100-word write-up of why you are interested in the programme and what you would like to gain out of the programme. 
• A choreography concept that you want to explore for the Mentorship. This can be in the form of a PowerPoint presentation and/or word document.
    

There is no programme fee required to participate, however there is a penalty fee should you drop out or have poor attendance without a valid reason. Feel free to reach out to creativearts@scape.sg if you have any queries.
