Title: Bereshit

Title: Sonder

Synopsis: Two foreign bodies  detached  in space. Each entity in its own existence. But are the spaces in between really hollow,  or does it hold another’s stories?

Title: TRIAD

Synopsis: A triad is a group of three. The three are usually closely related matters, persons, things, compounds, or elements. Examples: [ Past | Present | Future ] , [ Angry | Happy | Sad ] , [ Solid | Liquid | Gas ] . As an individual, each has its own identity. Yet, they influence and impact one another. So how should one thread through these seemingly associated yet unassociated components? Do you approach them all together as one, or do you treat it as its own?

Choreographer’s Notes: Through this residency programme and this piece, I really wanted to challenge my choreographic process. I was/am very used to choreographing linearly ( eg. with a story in mind, characters that develop structurally). I tried to choreograph this piece against what I usually think is logically or intentionally. It was hard for me to make sense of what my motives were. But in the end, I have the concept of “Triad” and I attempted to make sense of it visually. However, I left some space for my audience to make something out of it for themselves. Hope you enjoyed my item, and you took something away from it.

Title: Is This The Way of Going Forward?

Synopsis: Two individuals. In a space. In the journey of finding their own paths amidst predetermined routes. Are our routes really set though? Or do we create our own? Can we ‘bend’ what’s been ‘fixed’?

Choreographers notes: I was inspired by the many cookie-cutter spaces and ideals society has that I have encountered. The words ‘bend’ and ‘fixed’ are marked with single inverted commas because of the question: is there a fixed idea of what we should all achieve? In this piece, I am suggesting not; then is there even a need to bend?

Title: Beneath the Facade

Synopsis: How do you deal with conflicts within your relationships? How do you let it affect you? Why do we say things we don’t mean and yet leave so many words unsaid? At the end of the day, we are all imperfect people learning to navigate our way through the myriad of emotions within ourselves.

Title: Perspection

Synopsis: Labels are often used to define people: their personalities, the way they work, even their physical appearance. Labels are vocabularies of familiarity: they link a person to existing similarities. Multiple perspectives and contexts are at play behind each label. Everyone has a different value system, and we often re-calibrate when we are in different situations. Learning to understand the details between different value systems and contexts provides us with the tools for navigation.
