25th DigiCon6 ASIA Awards – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

ELIGIBILITY  

  1. Who can participate in this category?
    Singaporeans or PR of any age
    *Proof of identity for verification may be required and must be produced upon request.  
  2. Is there a time limit for films submitted?
    Yes, films must not exceed 15 minutes. 
  1. Do the films submitted need to be produced in a specific timeframe?
    No, films of any year can be submitted. However, films submitted must not have been past submissions to previous editions of Digicon6 ASIA Awards. 

  2. Can I submit works that I created or produced for a client?
    Yes.

  3. Who can submit an entry?
    A submission may be done by the Producer or any representative of the film.
  4. What are all the awards?
    These are the regional award categories for Singapore:
    1. Gold
    2. Best Story
    3. Best Art

These are the regional award categories for International Awards (Presented in Japan)**

  1. Asia Grand Prize
  2. Best Animation Story
  3. Best Animation Art
  4. Best Animation*
  5. Best Live Action Story
  6. Best Live Action Art
  7. Best Live Action*

SUBMISSION DETAILS  

REQUIREMENTS & FORMATS  

  1. What is the minimum and maximum length of the short film to be qualified?
    The maximum duration of the short film is up to 15 minutes including opening title and ending credits. There is no minimum length.  
  1. How many entries can I submit?
    There is no limit in the number of entries that an eligible Applicant can submit.  
  1. Are there themes that the short films need to follow?
    There are no themes for the 25th Digicon6 ASIA Awards. 
  1. Is there a limit to the number of people in a team?
    No. There is no maximum number of members in a team. 
  1. Can I enter a short film that is not in English Language?
    You may enter a short film that is not in English Language. All non-English submissions must have English subtitles.  
  1. Can I enter a short film that is not completed?
    Work in Progress will not be eligible for the competition.  
  1. How can I proceed to submit an entry?
    All submissions are required to be uploaded onto the platforms as listed in the online submission form. Both the URL and password (if any) must be provided. Please ensure that the film link is active and accessible until 20 October 2023 or your films may be disqualified.   
  1. Can I submit a film that has been submitted to other film competition(s)?
    Yes, you can. The Digicon6 ASIA Awards is a non-exclusive platform. Films that were submitted for other film competitions (within or outside Singapore) are still eligible for submission.  
  1. Can I submit my film for another film competition after submitting it to the Digicon6 ASIA Awards?
    Yes, subject to the terms and conditions of the other film competitions.   
  1. Do I have to pay a fee to participate?
    There are no entry fees required to participate in the Digicon6 ASIA Awards.   
  1. When is the deadline for submission?
    Submission deadline for the Digicon6 ASIA Awards will close at 2359hrs (GMT +8) on 23 July 2023  

SELECTION PROCESS  

  1. Who are the jury members?
    Please refer to the *SCAPE Digicon6 ASIA Awards website ( https://www.scape.sg/event/25th-digicon6-asia/ ) for more information when these details are released at a later date.  
  1. What is the judging process like?
    All submissions will go through a rigorous selection process by a Singapore jury panel consisting of industry professionals to select 3 winners for the Singapore regional award categories. These 3 films will then be passed on to the international jury panel to select the winners of the international award categories amongst all the 3 films submitted by each participating country 
  1. What is the selection process like?
    The Singapore Jury will pick 3 winners based on the award categories below out of all the submissions in Singapore. 

    These are the regional award categories for Singapore: 

  1. Gold
  2. Best Story
  3. Best Art

The 3 films above will then be nominated for the international award categories below.  

These are the regional award categories for International Awards (Presented in Japan)**

  1. Asia Grand Prize
  2. Best Animation Story
  3. Best Animation Art
  4. Best Animation*
  5. Best Live Action Story
  6. Best Live Action Art
  7. Best Live Action*

Asia Grand Prize and 8 other awards (To Be Confirmed). 

The international jury will shortlist 9 Gold films from 9 countries for the Asia Grand Prize from all films nominated across the 16 participating countries. The international jury will also pick the winners for the remaining award categories from all films nominated across the 15 participating countries.  

Representatives of the shortlisted Gold awards films, as well as winners for the rest of the international award categories will be invited to the Grand Finals in Japan in October for the award ceremony.  

 

NOMINATION & AWARDS CEREMONY  

  1. Will the submitted film be considered for all award categories?
    Yes, for all regional award categories.  
  1. When will I know if my submitted film has won the regional awards?
    Representatives of the winning films will be contacted via email as per the contact details provided in the Online Application Form by 4 August 2023.  
  1. Will the winning films be screened to the public?
    There will not be any screenings for winning films. 
  1. What are the prizes for the winners?
    More details will be released in the future regarding the prizes. 
  1. Is there an award ceremony? 
    There is no award ceremony for the Singapore regional awardees. There will be a luncheon involving Singapore regional awardees, the Singapore jury members and the organisers of the 25th Digicon6 ASIA Awards. Details of the luncheon will be released at a later date. Shortlisted Gold (international) award nominees and winners of the international award categories will be invited to attend the Grand Finals award ceremony in Japan in October. Details of the Grand Finals will be released at a later date.  
  1. Will the winners be required to attend the luncheon and Grand Finals? 
    Yes, all winners are strongly encouraged to attend the luncheon and Grand Finals (if they are invited).  
  1. How many awards will be presented at the luncheon and Grand Finals? 
    There will be 3 awards presented at the luncheon and 9 awards presented at the Grand Finals. 
  1.  Who gets to attend the Grand Finals award ceremony in Japan?
    If your film is shortlisted for any of the 9 awards that will be presented at the Grand Finals award ceremony in Japan, one representative will be invited to attend the award ceremony.
